Assistant Director Jennifer Krafchik gave a tour of the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum, displaying artifacts as she talked about Alice Paul, the Women's Suffrage Movement, and the the protests that helped lead to the 19th Amendment. The final necessary state ratified the 19th Amendment on August 18, 1920, and the secretary of state certified the amendment's adoption on August 26, 1920. The museum is the headquarters of the historic National Woman's Party and was the Washington home of its founder and Equal Rights Amendment author Alice Paul from 1929 until 1972.
