Washington Post Reporter Paul Kane talked about the upcoming lame duck session of Congress, including legislative battles, leadership campaigns, and chairmanship changes. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.
Congress is back in D.C. today to begin its “lame-duck” post election session. Throughout the week members will take part in leadership elections starting with Senate Democrats and Republicans on Tuesday, House Republicans on Wednesday and House Democrats also later in the week.
Freshmen members who won November elections won’t take their place in Congress until the 112th session begins in January, but this week they will begin orientation classes to learn their duties. They will be briefed on Congressional ethics, parliamentary procedure and floor operations.
