New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu talked about the state of his city nearly five years after Hurricane Katrina and just four months after the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon BP oil rig. He commended Obama administration officials for their interest in the city and outlined the ways in which the schools and community parks are rebuilding. He urged BP and the Obama administration to continue to pay attention to the gulf even though the well has been capped. He also explained the problems that New Orleans has been facing since long before Hurricane Katrina devastated the city.
