The Senate Select Intelligence Committee held a confirmation hearing on the nomination of James Clapper to be Director of National Intelligence. In his testimony he pledged to improve coordination among intelligence agencies and said he would exercise his authority to overrule the CIA director if need be to ensure that intelligence policy remained focused. He also said he would not hesitate to share information with the congressional intelligence committees and would let Congress know if he disagreed with a policy decision by someone else in the intelligence community.
