Yalman Onaran talked about completion of House and Senate conference committee negotiations on a financial regulations overhaul bill (HR 4173). The bill includes a highly contentious provision that would force banks to spin off lucrative derivatives operations as well as a proposal known as the "Volcker Rule." The rule imposes strict limits on proprietary trading, the practice of a bank trading with their own funds, not on behalf of clients but purely for profits. Mr. Onaran also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.
