About This Video

Patricia McGuire is president of Trinity Washington University in Washington, D.C., for over 20 years and is credited with saving the institution whose population diminished from 1,000 students in 1969 to 300 in 1989. Trinity opened as a women's college in 1897 next to Catholic University in Northeast Washington, which was then an all-male institution. Men were accepted into Trinity night and weekend classes beginning in the 1960s. Today, the private university of 2,000 students has three separate schools.
