Leon Schafer was interviewed at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina, about his life and his service in the Navy during World War II. He talked about the D-Day landing in Normandy. This is the first of two parts. The National World War II Museum in New Orleans conducted oral histories to record the experiences of World War II veterans and those Americans living and working on the home front. The date of the interview is not known. Presumably in November 2008.
