Terry Teachout talked about his biography of Louis Armstrong called Pops: A Life of Louis Armstrong (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2009). Louis Armstrong was a jazz musician who influenced the music and culture of the 20th century. Mr. Teachout talked about Louie Armstrong's public life, including his experiences with segregation while touring and his overseas tours. Topics included his disagreement with President Eisenhower over race, calling the president "two faced" and having "no guts" while fellow musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie accussed Mr. Armstrong of being an "Uncle Tom."
