An archival government film from 1969 on the history and functions of the Treasury department, titled The Treasury Story. The United States Department of the Treasury was founded on September 2, 1789. President George Washington named Alexander Hamilton as the first Treasury Secretary. Hamilton served in that position from September 11th, 1789 through January 31st, 1795.
