Space Shuttle Endeavour begins its mission to the International Space Station from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The mission is Endeavour's final scheduled flight.
The original time for the launch was late last month. It was scrubbed due to an electrical problem aboard Endeavour, an issue associated with the Auxiliary Power Unit 1 heaters. NASA says repairs have fixed the problem.
On its STS-134 mission, Endeavour will deliver a $1.5 billion astrophysics experiment to the International Space Station. It will also drop off supplies to help outfit the orbiting lab for the post-shuttle era, which begins after Atlantis' STS-135 final mission this summer.
A team of six veteran astronauts, led by Commander Mark Kelly, will fly Endeavour on its final mission. Other crew members include Pilot Gregory Johnson and Mission Specialists Michael Fincke, Greg Chamitoff, Andrew Feustel and Italian astronaut Roberto Vittori.
