Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke held the first news conference in the Federal Reserve’s 97-year history. He said the economy will recover at a moderate pace for the remainder of the year. He also said the Federal Reserve continues to balance economic policy geared at recovery with concerns of inflation. He reiterated a previous assertion that the Federal Reserve’s efforts to stimulate the economy through an aggressive program of large bond purchases will not raise inflation.
