C-SPAN 2010 Teacher Fellowship Program

Spend part of your summer with C-SPAN in Washington, DC.

If you are a social studies teacher or media specialist who teaches with C-SPAN, apply for the C-SPAN 2010 Middle & High School Teacher Fellowship Program, a project of the C-SPAN Education Foundation.

The Fellowship is open to C-SPAN Classroom members only, who teach in public or private middle schools or high schools. C-SPAN will offer three Fellowships, each valued at approximately $6,500.00.

Application Requirements

Applicants must be:

  • a member of C-SPAN Classroom, C-SPAN’s free membership service for teachers: www.c-spanclassroom.org.
  • a middle or high school U.S. history teacher, or civics or government teacher; or a media specialist, technology coordinator or similar position who is familiar with social studies content and helps teachers integrate technology into their curriculum.

Applicants must submit:

  • a completed Fellowship Application including two required essays and a copy of their most recent resume to be received at C-SPAN by Friday, February 12, 2010, via email to educate@c-span.org, or mail to:

If you are selected, you will receive:

  • A $3,500 stipend
  • An additional $2,500 for housing costs & other expenses
  • Round-trip airfare to Washington, DC

Important Dates

  • Fellowship Deadline: Friday, February 12, 2010
  • C-SPAN notifies Fellowship finalists by Friday, February 26, 2010
  • Finalists submit a video of their teaching with C-SPAN by Friday, March 12, 2010
  • C-SPAN conducts phone interviews with finalists starting the week of March 15, 2010
  • C-SPAN announces the 2010 Fellows by Friday, March 26, 2010

C-SPAN’s Funding

C-SPAN is a private, non-profit company, created in 1979 by the cable television industry as a public service. C-SPAN receives no government funding; operations are funded by fees paid by cable and satellite affiliates who carry C-SPAN programming.

C-SPAN’s Education Foundation, a foundation created to support C-SPAN’s educational projects and initiatives, funds C-SPAN’s Fellowship program.
